Electrical Substation Construction Technician

Must have 1 year electrical substation construction experience.

SCOPE Inc. provides services to the electric utility industry in the areas of panel manufacturing, substation construction, substation maintenance, and quality oversight.

Our Substation Division, KVA, Inc. is headquartered in Greer, South Carolina and we provide services throughout the Carolinas and North America.

Work Conditions

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Weekly overnight travel required
  • Work in electrical substation as contractor for electric/utility
  • Wear Fire Retardant clothing and PPE as required

Role and Responsibilities

  • Work as part of an electric utility substation civil construction crew
  • Work with related hand tools and power tools
  • Form and pour concrete foundations
  • Install cable trench, cable trays, pull cable, and install conduit
  • Assemble and erect steel structures
  • Work from man lift at heights up to 40 feet
  • General construction tasks
  • Read blueprints and build to specifications
  • Control wiring and site layout
  • create and work within a team environment

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience in substation construction work
  • general understanding of electrical components of an electrical substation

Requirements

  • Must pass a criminal background check, DMV clearance and drug screen
  • Must have 1 year electric substation construction experience or comparable experience
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history (commercial class A license is a plus)
  • Safe work record
  • Strong contributor in a team environment with good communication skills
  • On Time and Dependable with reliable means of transportation
  • Able to lift up to 70 lbs., work in confined spaces and elevated work areas
  • Able to stoop, bend, walk, and work in rugged terrain and in all weather conditions
  • Must have basic hand tools required for the position.
  • Must have or be willing to get EH rated boots with composite or steel toes.

Salary: $1.00 to $25.00/ per hour DOE
